As an Offshore Refrigeration Technician, you’ll be at the forefront of keeping critical cooling systems online in the most demanding environments around the world.
What You’ll Do
- Commission and startup new cooling systems on offshore platforms worldwide
- Install and integrate refrigeration equipment in marine environments
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance.
- Diagnose and repair cooling systems.
- Work with diverse equipment including refrigeration systems, industrial chillers, heat exchangers, and our own custom line of specialized offshore cooling units
- Collaborate with international teams and adapt to various cultural work environments
- Maintain detailed service records and provide technical recommendations to clients
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Training:
- Post-secondary degree or technical certification in HVAC/R, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- Specialized training in CO₂ refrigeration systems preferred
- Relevant apprenticeship or vocational training in industrial refrigeration
- F gas training
Technical Expertise:
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in commercial/industrial refrigeration systems
- Proven experience with centrifugal chillers, screw compressors, and reciprocating compressors.
- Strong knowledge of refrigeration theory.
- Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting and controls
- Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and building automation systems (preferred)
- Understanding of heat transfer principles and psychometrics
Certifications Required:
- European F gas
- Valid offshore safety certifications (We can provide if needed)
- Offshore Electrical safety certification preferred
- HVAC-R diploma or degree.
Essential Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and electrical schematics
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities under pressure.
- Comfort working in marine environments

- Strong communication skills for international client interactions (May require making illustrations to communicate effectively).

Travel Requirements
This role offers unparalleled opportunities to see the world while building your technical expertise. Anticipate up to 95% global travel to offshore installations, including platforms in the North Sea, Gulf of Mexico, West Africa, Southeast Asia, and other international waters.
Assignments typically range from 2-4 weeks on location, followed by scheduled time off. A flexible schedule is essential to respond to urgent service calls or extended on-site work, with overtime compensation as required.
