Hello fellow Chiller techs. York YVAA air cooled chiller – snubber caps. I have looked high and low through all service order procedure documets from JCI and I cannot find any torque ratings for the snubber caps , the small individual 1mf caps across the top of IGBT – the only torque ratings i can find are with the SCRs or mounting bolts for the assembly itself or line voltage connections, etc . Does anyone know off hand or have a document listing if their is a torque value rating for the snubber caps ? Thank you all.
I am York YCAV/YCIV and YVAA cerfied. Previous experience discharging and replacing bleed resistors and SCRs on these drives.

Don’t overthink it. A screw that size doesn’t need to be torqued.

Jody is right, it will be minimal. Hand tight on something like that should be just fine.
I tried to find the spec myself, and couldn’t find it either, even in some of yorks other VSD manuals. I found some stuff in the danfoss literature for their Snubbers. They Call for 5 Ft Lbs, but I believe they have thicker machine Screws in theirs.
For future reference, if you think you’re going to break it, or strip it out, and want to only tighten it as much as needed. You can find the torque Spec based on the specific machine screw, or bolt, and a chart that looks like this one I attached.
Most of them have a few different Specs depending on if your putting them in Wet (locktite, Antiseize, etc..) or dry. This is the specification that OEMS use for most things.
I always try and find OEM info first, and use this as a last resort if I am doing something critical.1 -
Torque is the same on all igbts tangs , don’t over torque or they can fail
