Anyone have any input on the liquid line driers on a Carrier 30HXC136RZW571KA?

Part number on the housing of the driers is 30HX401231.

From my understanding in the IOM, in the event of a flashing sight glass, you check temp across drier. If its over three degrees you replace driers and check again.

Well, I have almost five degree difference and thought id change them out and check again, but im finding this part to be obsolete, long lead times and very expensive.

My ultimate question, anything special about these driers? Any reason I cant cut them out and put something more readily availble? Like a Sporlan 48? The OEM ones are smaller than 48s.
