“Got subbed out to do annuals on some older Carrier 19XRs. Never been to this location. Control panels had been upgraded in the past so there was no start up info but I was able to get design info from a friend at the factory. Been 5+ years since I’ve really laid hands on a carrier centrifugal. Need a refresher on checking refrigerant charge. Besides evap approach what are some other things to look at. Discharge superheat and igv%? I seem to remember if you had flow through the oil skimmer sightglass from the evap when unloaded then the charge was ok.

Also noticed one chiller was in hot gas bypass when I was there dropping off equipment. Trying to remember what it looks at to decide to open the hgbp solenoid. Getting my manuals out of the attic when I get home. Im sure it will all come back to me when I get out there but was hoping you guys could jog my memory.”
