Troubleshooting Question HanBell Screw Compressor RC2-310B
Evening everyone,I recently ran a service call and worked on my very first screw compressor that was down to oil fault lockout. It was overwhelming because of it brewing my first time. The compressor had oil inside the sight glass with the red ball floating. I reset the compressor and check the new oil pressure between my suction and oil differential switch on the side of the compressor. I was getting very weird readings my pressure on the oil differential side was between 125-135 and my suction pressure was about 75-80 psi (r22). I immediately thought that there could be an issue with oil filter or the oil differential switch is out of calibration.
The compressor would not stay on long enough to get some stable readings.
I recommend to the customer to replace the oil filter and oil switch as a precaution. I told my field supervisor that the oil filter and oil switch ( only as precaution ) both needed to be replaced. I verified that the cooling tower was running and both supply fans were operating correctly.
What should the normal net oil pressure differential be on these compressors? The service manual really does not tell you very much about the oil in detail.
Is there something I missed or am I on the right track ? Here’s some pictures of the alarms that I was able to get .

Been awhile since i have seen one of these, but i pulled the manuals for you.
Min diff is 4 bar (approx 58 psig)
1. When it’s running as long as it will stay on, what are your suction and discharge pressures right before it trips?
2. Have you checked the oil safety itself and its wiring into the controller?
3. Can you send a photo of the compressor body, this just has the integral oil separator correct? Here is the Technical manual for reference, and i will upload some more below.

@John_Clemmer thanks John for tire help. I totally forgot to post in the other private groups. When I loaded up for about 1-2 minutes my suction pressure ranges for a few minutes 75-80 psig and discharge 185-200 psig. But the compressor does not stay on long enough. That is one thing I forgot to check is the wiring to safety. Another tech was recently out there for the same thing.
