Carrier chiller I get to work on
We have a client with three of these old Carriers 30HR140-600C. A few years back we replaced the original controllers with Honeywell T775s w/expansion modules. Also converted to 407C. Some leaks, some TXV heads, over the years, still running strong. These are about as big as we go as a company. No centrifugal work. These run like sewing machines. Very noisy sewing machines! I do enjoy working on them.

About me; 65 years old. Been HVAC wrenching for over 40 years after serving in the USN as a BT 78-83. May retire in a few years. For now, I still love the trade and the daily challenges I get to solve. From boilers, refrigeration, small systems and large. If I don’t know, I know how to figure it out (most times).

@otto-weddell this is great stuff otto, thanks for sharing. We had some of those at an old newspaper print shop. they aren’t very sexy, but they ran good.

Mannn! You’ve probably forgotten more than I know! I’m 37 & grew up in the trade (family owns a hvac/r company in Florida).
Never thought about doing some office work, or do you just prefer working with your hands?2-
@checkmate89 I do some office stuff from home when I take “days off” to let the other guys get their hours in. I’ve always been a stickler about equipment lists, schedules, parts ordering and stuff like that. I still get out and do service when we are busy and train others on the boilers & chillers when the inspections come around. I did try office once many years ago. Lasted about 2 weeks. Nope, not for me.
