A softer topic - Residential soft start unit
Not really chiller related, but I finally decided to install the Micro Air Easy Start on my home 5 Ton unit.
Works as advertised, very pleasantly surprised.
Replaced the contactor and cap preemptively since I don’t know when those were last changed as well (though I was not impressed with the mounting straps and will replace those later). However, the easy start does as advertised and cut my in-rush amps about 60-65% on average. Certainly a quieter startup and no more light flicker either.
We shall see how long this R-22 unit can keep going but with less shock on the compressor, I hope I can extend the life of it just a bit longer.
